opening/editing a shared document

To open a shared document, click the Review menu tab, then "Open" from the Plutext group on the Review ribbon.

The Open dialog appears.

Select the file you would like to edit, then click "Open".

The file should now open in Word.

There are 2 differences from a normal Word document, both shown in the screenshot below.

These differences are:

  1. the custom task pane, which provides some additional behaviours specific to shared documents
  1. all content is within content controls (the paragraph your cursor is on will in a blue box, as shown in the screen shot)

Edit it as you normally would.

Assuming you are grouping on each paragraph, and "Prompt for Checkin Comment" is turned off, changes will be saved to the server each time you leave a paragraph.

Since changes are saved as they are made, when you are finished, you can simply close the document. Just remember to move out of the last paragraph you edited and in to another. No need to save the document locally, or use the Plutext Close button.

Caveats: - please be aware of current gotchas and limitations, which we are working to resolve before any release for end users.
